Haiti is overwhelmed by its crisis, its crises. As the days pass, the situation worsens. The consequences of this ongoing multifaceted crisis are visible in all sectors of national life. The country's position in the reports of international organizations illustrates the severity of the crisis. The reports from national and international human rights organizations on the victims of insecurity are dizzying.

While the international community acknowledges the gravity of the situation in its reports, in practice, it is abandoning Haiti to its fate. Canadian, American, and even Dominican sanctions against individuals suspected of fueling the crisis have had no effect. The list of individuals sanctioned by the United Nations (UN) announced since January has yet to have an impact. Perhaps the UN, based on the Canadian and American experience, considers such a decision counterproductive or is taking every precaution to do better.
