The consequences of the Haitian crisis, as serious as they may be, no longer come as a surprise. It is evident that the lives of Haitians do not matter. The authorities, paid and maintained to govern the country, stand by with folded arms while the worst atrocities by gangs are committed against children and the elderly, to name only the most vulnerable segments of the population.

There have been countless high-level meetings at the UN, OAS, CARICOM, and other organizations concerning the Haitian crisis. The promises of aid to the Haitian national police to restore peace in the country are just as numerous. Since Ariel Henry came to power, there have been numerous diplomatic missions to assess the situation. However, results are slow to come, and instead, the situation worsens. It has never been truer that promises are only for those who believe in them.
