The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) was scheduled to send a check of 400 million Haitian Gourdes to the petroleum company Bandari on Tuesday, August 8th, to begin the distribution of cards to 25,000 drivers this week. Each beneficiary is expected to receive an amount of around 15,000 Gourdes, as revealed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ricardin St Jean, on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023. "The check of 400 million Gourdes will be sent to Bandari today. The investigation to gather information about the drivers is completed. The union representatives have provided us with some of the data. We have strengthened our technical team. The data is being entered and will be sent to the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI). I believe the distribution of fuel cards should begin this week. (...) For the 400 million Gourdes, the number of beneficiaries is 25,000. Each beneficiary is expected to receive around 15,000 Gourdes," stated Ricardin St Jean.

"In the context of the targeted subsidy program, the projection is for 100,000 beneficiaries out of the 1 billion 640 million Gourdes. It's in the next fiscal year that we hope this subsidy will have the desired effect on transportation prices," added Ricardin St Jean.
