"What we are experiencing goes beyond disappointment. We had to flee our home a few days ago. We were informed that our workshop, where we have lived since childhood with my father, Lionel Saint-Éloi, my brothers, and close relatives, was looted and set ablaze. When we talk about the Saint-Éloi workshop in Carrefour-Feuilles, it is a place of artistic reference. Our work in Carrefour-Feuilles is about transferring knowledge and skills, whether in painting, ceramics, music, cosmetology... Our work has enabled many young people to encounter art and acquire a profession," explained the drummer, condemning the passivity of the public authorities in the face of such a disaster.
For several months, there had been information circulating that the gang members intended to attack the Savane Pistache area. "On the night of August 13, 2023, I had to evacuate my family members due to the increasingly intense gunfire. Initially, my father and mother categorically refused to leave their home. However, they eventually came to their senses and vacated the premises. I stayed with other close family members for a few days. But, given the gravity of the situation, I left the house on August 17th," Zikiki explained, unaware that his worst fears were about to come true.
