UN Resolution 2653, authorizing member states to impose sanctions on Haitian citizens suspected of fueling instability in Haiti, continues to make its way. Dozens of Haitians, including well-known gang leaders, former presidents, former prime ministers, and business leaders, find themselves on the list of those sanctioned by Canada, the United States, the Dominican Republic, among others.

This week, the United States took a further step in implementing this resolution by announcing sanctions against former Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive and former senators Nenel Cassy and Hervé Fourcand, as well as their families.
