The reopening of schools for the 2024-2025 academic year took place under similar conditions as those that marked the end of the previous year. Many schools remain occupied by internally displaced persons, while others are closed due to gang violence. Despite this, the reopening of schools occupied by displaced persons was among the government's promises for the new school year. It is unclear whether the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) and the Conille government are actively addressing this issue, which should be a priority for the Republic, as they exchange letters amidst their usual meetings.

According to UNICEF, 919 schools across the country are closed, representing an increase of over 20 percent compared to 2023. This disruption affects nearly 300,000 children’s school attendance. There is no doubt that the Haitian authorities are aware of these figures, as they stem from surveys conducted by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training. UNICEF has acknowledged the MENFP for providing these statistics.
