U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian A. Nichols, in the midst of escalating gang violence and a series of ineffective meetings, reminded the CPT/PM duo that "this is not the time for political disputes." "As discussed with the CPT and the Prime Minister, this is a time for national unity in Haiti's international fight against gangs. It is not the time for political disputes. We strongly support Prime Minister Conille and his cabinet’s efforts to advance the national priorities set by the CPT," Nichols wrote on Twitter, Monday, October 21, 2024.

This latest message from Brian A. Nichols comes less than a week after a statement made on October 16 by Jon Finer, Principal Deputy National Security Advisor of the USA, urging the CPT/PM duo "to put the country's interests above those of the parties and fulfill their promise to work for all Haitians."
