In recent days, political parties and their civil society allies called for a dual-executive structure to better address the country’s deepening crisis. To them, concentrating all power in the hands of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry was either the main cause or one of the primary reasons behind the crisis's worsening. Instead of a single president, nine Presidential Advisors, each holding the full privileges of a president, were appointed to succeed Ariel Henry after his mysterious departure. A new government was also established.
Through these two bodies, nearly all factions of the political class now wield power directly, alongside civil society organizations, private sector groups, and religious institutions. This approach was supposed to ensure collective governance in unity and harmony. However, this notion gave too much credit to the political class, which appears more at ease amid crises. The ongoing conflict between the CPT and the government is proof of this.
