The United States and France have issued serious statements regarding the situation in Haiti, just 24 hours after Alix Didier Fils-Aimé was appointed to replace Garry Conille as Prime Minister. This came before the announcement of the formation of the next ministerial cabinet on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
“Following intensive discussions with the parties, the United States recognizes that the Haitian Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) and Prime Minister Garry Conille were unable to move forward constructively, and they acknowledge the CPT's decision to appoint his successor,” stated a U.S. State Department release, attributed to spokesperson Matthew Miller.
