The banking system is experiencing stronger growth in its key performance indicators, despite challenges that continue to weaken the business environment, according to the monetary policy note for the fourth quarter of the 2023-2024 fiscal year from the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH).
“Data available as of September 30, 2024, indicate stronger growth in the main performance indicators of the banking system. Generating a net banking product (NBP) of 10.02 billion gourdes, the system posted a quarterly increase of 15.7%, reflecting the resilience of the sector despite the adverse conditions further destabilizing the country’s business environment. This net gain was driven by the quarterly growth in 'Other income' (+46.4%) and the subcomponent 'Interest on BRH bonds' (+49.1%),” the monetary policy note stated.
