He never sought glory or fame. Thanks to his long-standing service in the Haitian judiciary, Jean-Claude Théogène is now regarded as a living monument of the country’s judicial system. He began his career as a judge the year following the end of the Duvalier dictatorship, during a time marked by major national challenges. He started as deputy government commissioner in Fort-Liberté in October 1987, before being promoted to judge, then government commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Fort-Liberté.

A true guardian of the law and a model of wisdom, Jean-Claude Théogène was later transferred to Cap-Haïtien, where he served as government commissioner at the Court of First Instance before being appointed judge at the Cap-Haïtien Court of Appeal in October 1995. He was later promoted to the Court of Cassation.
