A U.S. federal appeals court dealt a new blow to the Trump administration in its attempt to eliminate protections against deportation and work permits granted to more than half a million Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans—many of whom live in South Florida—admitted to the United States under a humanitarian parole program, according to an article in the Miami Herald.
The First Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Boston, rejected the administration's request to suspend the decision of Federal Judge Indira Talwani, who blocked the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) plan to end this program launched under President Joe Biden's administration.
