President Donald Trump on Thursday lambasted a court decision that had initially suspended a large portion of the tariffs he imposed in recent months and expressed hope that he could continue to act without relying on lawmakers.

On Wednesday, the United States International Trade Court (ITC) ruled that Trump had overstepped his authority by imposing broad, non-targeted surcharges, stating that such measures fall under the prerogative of Congress.
