The Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) had initially closed ranks, displaying a form of solidarity in wrongdoing after three of its members were indicted in the BNC corruption scandal. At the very beginning of the CPT-PM experience, there was no longer any doubt about the philosophy or intentions of the new leadership. They help themselves—without getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar. And they stick together no matter what, while the population is literally and figuratively dying.

However, that discretion, that solidarity in wrongdoing, has eroded over the months. With the recent dramatic revelations, even the doubting Thomases are now convinced that the CPT and the government are merely tending to their own affairs. Time, as often happens, has pulled off the masks. It’s now clear that among looters and "big eaters," there is neither honor among thieves nor a lasting code of silence.
