The story of Volo Volo de Boston began in 1971 in Massachusetts, USA, born from a merger of former members of the groups Les Ambassadeurs and Les Fantaisistes de Carrefour. The name, inspired by the Latin volo, volare—meaning “to fly”—symbolized from the outset their ambition to rise within the compas music scene.
From its inception, several talented musicians joined the lineup: Pierre Emmanuel Charles, who had played with Les Difficiles de Pétion-Ville from 1970 to 1976; Antoine Rossini Jean-Baptiste, known as Ti Manno, formerly of Les Formidables de Saint-Marc; Ricot Mazarin, who had played with Les Fantaisistes in 1968; and Hans Félix, founding guitarist and former member of Les Ambassadeurs.
