On July 9, the Coordinator of the CPT, Fritz Alphonse Jean, wrote to Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé requesting clarification about the renewal of said contract, which allegedly granted a lease period three times longer than the standard nine years. On August 4, the CPT published a statement claiming that everything was in order with the CPS contract. But on August 6, Fritz Alphonse Jean issued a notice stating that nothing was in order with the CPS contract and that granting a 27-year lease to CPS instead of the usual nine years must, “in full transparency,” be subject to a legal opinion to justify it.
The President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) formally requested an update “on the renewal of a contract with Caribbean Port Services (CPS) for a period exceeding twenty-five years, that is, three times the usual nine-year renewal term. The CPT has no knowledge of this matter and would like to receive, along with your explanatory note, copies of the contractual documents (old and, if applicable, new) binding the Haitian State and CPS,” wrote Fritz Alphonse Jean to Alix Didier Fils-Aimé on July 9, 2025.
