On August 7, 2025, a change in leadership is scheduled at the head of the Transitional Presidential Council. Laurent Saint-Cyr, former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti, is set to replace Fritz Alphonse Jean, former president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Northeast. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, also a former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti, is expected to remain as Prime Minister.
In recent days, tensions have been high—not due to recurring earthquakes, but because of rumors and misunderstandings among executive authorities. The real test awaiting Saint-Cyr and Fils-Aimé will be their approach to the current political climate and republican institutions.
