April 2012. Miami. Jean Hérard Richard, “Richie,” officially announces the creation of Klass. This prodigy drummer, introduced to drumsticks at the age of six and already leading a small band by eleven, had founded “Power X” during his studies, recording three tracks played on local radio stations and even composing a jingle for 4VKB Radio Cap-Haïtien, still used today.
A university graduate, Richie settled in the United States to study music technology. Initially passionate about punk and heavy metal, he discovered compas after a disappointing experience with a Jamaican band. In 1992, he founded Tah-Pajj, which lasted four years. In 1997, his friend Brutus, cofounder of Zenglen, began bringing him into the group. An official member by 1999, Richie quickly composed “Tempo” and then churned out hits: “Let it groove,” “Do it right,” “5 Etwal,” “Child support”… After twelve years with Zenglen, he resigned to form Klass, taking with him Romny Louixène Florestal, known as El Pozo. This departure deprived Zenglen of its main musical architect.
