The economics professor at the State University of Haiti, Jameson Duperval, also a doctoral student at Paris Dauphine-PSL University, has just been named financial inclusion leader for Haiti by two internationally recognized institutions: the Fletcher School and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI). Economist Duperval received this prestigious distinction from the Fletcher School of Tufts University on September 3, 2025, in Namibia, during the Global Policy Forum (GPF) of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), in the presence of 700 senior financial regulators and policymakers from around the world. This distinction, obtained after a demanding nine-month program, places the economist at the heart of a global movement that is redefining the boundaries of finance for excluded populations.
A global recognition for a local vision
The Leadership in Financial Inclusion program, co-organized by the Fletcher School and AFI, annually selects emerging executives from developing countries who are capable of designing innovative and inclusive policies. Among the best, Jameson Duperval was recognized for his ambitious project: a financial inclusion strategy targeting women farmers’ access to credit in Haiti’s South and Southeast departments, two vulnerable regions with immense agricultural potential. His approach is not only technical but also systemic, contextual, and transformative. For the Haitian economist, financial exclusion is not simply a lack of access to a bank account but a deep symptom of deficiencies in governance, institutional coordination, and inclusive financial culture.
