The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Haiti, Henry Wooster, in a video posted on the Embassy’s X account on Monday, September 15, 2025, lumped together unelected politicians and gang leaders who have undermined security and good governance for too long, warning that there would be “consequences” for those obstructing the political transition process. In this message, he also noted that the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, designated a foreign terrorist organization like Viv Ansanm and Gran Grif, had been struck by the U.S. military.

“Haitians, you deserve the chance to shape your own future. Unelected politicians and gang leaders have undermined security and good governance for too long,” said Chargé d’Affaires Henry Wooster. “What are the United States doing?” he asked, before answering his own question. “We are holding individuals accountable for their actions—such as arms traffickers, those who finance gangs, and political figures who encourage Haiti’s insecurity and instability. We are taking measures against criminals who ship weapons to Haiti and who support terrorist gangs,” continued the American diplomat, referring to the U.S. military strike against the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, designated a foreign terrorist organization like Viv Ansanm and Gran Grif.
