From April 13 to October 13, 2025, the World Expo is being held in Osaka Kansai, Japan. This major international event, a crossroads for people and cultures from around the globe, highlights each nation’s progress in the economic, cultural, and technological fields. In 2025, the Expo is organized around the theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” with three subthemes — “Saving Lives,” “Inspiring Lives,” and “Connecting Lives.”

Inspiring and connecting — that is the mission Haiti has set for itself at this global gathering, led by Jean Marie Théodat, a geographer and the chief commissioner of the Haitian Pavilion. “We are the first to have created a universal culture,” Professor Théodat said proudly during the Panel Magik program on Friday, October 10, 2025. According to him, Haiti — once a land of welcome and meeting for peoples from all over the world — has allowed us “to offer the world a Creole culture, a culture of blending, of innovation, and of boldness.”
