In recent days, the international community has been actively working to set up the Gang Repression Force (GRF) so that it can be deployed in Haiti under conditions and with human and material resources far more substantial than those of the outgoing Multinational Security Support Mission.
This Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States has received commitments for 7,500 troops for the GRF, even though only 5,500 were initially sought. Germany, for its part, has pledged $35 million to support the Force. These are all signs that the Haiti file is of great interest to many countries.
