In 2026, five years will have passed since the assassination of the last elected president, Jovenel Moïse. Many of the perpetrators, including members of the Colombian commando, are behind bars. One of the Haitian suspects, who was in charge of the president’s security at the time—Dimitri Hérard—escaped from the Port-au-Prince civil prison in early 2024 and remains at large. The Court of Appeal has ordered that the investigation be deepened. Judicial truth has still not been established in this heinous crime. Skeptics say they would not be surprised if one day it were announced that President Moïse, riddled with bullets, committed suicide.
Ten years since the last elections
2026 will mark a decade since the last elections, those that brought President Moïse to power, organized by the Privert/Jean-Charles transition with the country’s own financial resources. History will remember that President Jocelerme Privert organized elections that allowed a candidate not from his political family to become president. Democracy—six feet under for five years, without elected officials—has suited the so-called democrats, self-proclaimed butchers. They restored their economic health and served the economic interests of their “bosses,” while the population continues to walk barefoot on the embers of hell, as neighborhoods are increasingly ravaged.
