The National Port Authority (APN) has made “significant progress” in strengthening the security of public and private port facilities, in line with the requirements of the United States Coast Guard, Le Nouvelliste learned on Monday, January 5, 2026.
“We are moving forward… Of course there has been progress in strengthening the security of our ports. There has been a lot of progress. I am moving forward to the best of my ability to implement the Coast Guard’s requirements to a satisfactory level… It is possible that an assessment visit could take place during the month of January,” APN Director General Jean Evens Charles told the newspaper, referring to the progress achieved.
