Donald Trump is considering “several options” to acquire Greenland, including “using the military,” his spokesperson said on Tuesday—further fueling concern in Europe over the fate of the Arctic island, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
“The U.S. president has made it clear that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority for the United States and is vital to keeping our adversaries in the Arctic region in check. The president and his team are discussing several options to achieve this important foreign policy objective, and of course, using the U.S. military is always an option available to the commander in chief,” Karoline Leavitt said in a statement sent to AFP.
