We should end up believing it. For ever since the shadow of that fateful date began to loom on the horizon, those in power have been flooding the media and singing to us in unison that everything is wonderful, that everyone is kind and everything is fine. Each one lists his personal achievements: insecurity is on the way to being contained, occupied territories are about to be liberated, tourism infrastructure is gleaming, the economy is turning green… in short, one of these days we’ll be told that Haiti has joined the group of emerging countries.

Let us come back down to earth. What are the great feats of arms of the CPT triumvirate, the Prime Minister, and the government? Is it even necessary to list them, when our daily reality is marked by violence, looting, and corruption? This country was held hostage for more than twenty months by all kinds of predators, in white collars and in rags alike.
