“Acting on the instructions of the Secretary of War, the USS Stockdale, the USCGC Stone, and the USCGC Diligence arrived in the bay of Port-au-Prince as part of Operation Southern Spear. Their presence reflects the unwavering commitment of the United States to security, stability, and a better future for Haiti,” the Embassy of the United States in Haiti said in a statement on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

“The U.S. Navy and the United States Coast Guard reaffirm their partnership and support to ensure a safer and more prosperous Haiti,” the statement continued. It was released a few days after the January 28 Senate hearing of Marco Rubio, during which he expressed the Trump administration’s desire “to adopt a military posture” to confront gangs—transnational terrorist organizations operating in Haiti and other countries in the region.
