Since February 7, Louis Gérald Gilles, Emmanuel Vertilaire, Smith Augustin, Leslie Voltaire, Laurent Saint-Cyr, Fritz Alphonse Jean, Edgard Leblanc Fils, Régine Abraham, and Frinel Joseph are no longer in office. With the mandate of the members of the former Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) having come to an end, a question now arises: what privileges, allowances, or benefits are they entitled to as former Presidents of the Republic?
Before examining what the law provides regarding privileges granted to former senior State officials, Le Nouvelliste posed the following question to a former member of the CPT: Did the CPT reach any agreement on what privileges the presidential advisers would receive after the end of their mandate? “No. Not to my knowledge, at least. And I do not think it is up to us to define them outside what is provided for by law and established practice,” he replied to the newspaper.
