A few hours after assuming sole control of the executive branch following the departure of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé placed the search for a political agreement at the heart of his action. In an address to the nation, the head of government stressed the need for a structured dialogue among political actors and segments of society in order to stabilize the transition and pave the way for credible elections.

Alix Didier Fils-Aimé said he is following “with sustained attention” the ongoing debates within the political class on ways out of the crisis. “I am following with sustained attention the discussions currently taking place within the political class on the various paths proposed to lead the country out of the crisis. I am ready to take part in any consultation that places the national interest above all else. I commit to participating in and encouraging sincere dialogue between political forces and civil society, because the country’s stability cannot be built without consensus,” the Prime Minister declared.
