The Association des Industries d’Haïti, concerned about the renewal of the HOPE/HELP Act for only one year, met with the American Chargé d’Affaires Henry T. Wooster on March 1, 2026. “The ADIH met with the American Chargé d’Affaires on Monday, March 1, 2026, following the letter sent to Ambassador Henry T. Wooster on February 25, in which it expressed its concerns regarding the renewal of the HOPE/HELP law for only one year, despite the sustained efforts made over the past five years to obtain a multi-year extension guaranteeing stability and predictability for Haitian investors and manufacturers,” the ADIH reported.

“During this meeting, the issue of tariffs was addressed in detail. The ADIH team stressed that maintaining the current tariffs would compromise Haiti’s competitiveness in the textile sector, particularly in comparison with the Dominican Republic, thereby jeopardizing the goals of growth, job creation, and sustainable economic stability pursued by this law,” according to the ADIH.
