The Delmas municipal government launched, on February 11, an operation to clear the sidewalks of the commune’s streets, which had been cluttered with illegal constructions mainly used for commercial activities. More than a month after the start of the operations, only two interventions have been carried out by municipal authorities, on February 11 and 20, respectively. Has the municipality abandoned the project following complaints from those affected? The municipality prefers to speak of a pause and is already announcing a resumption in the near future.

The appearance of the commune has not changed much since the operations began. In Delmas 31 and Delmas 33, which we visited, just a short distance from where the operations started, some constructions on the sidewalks are still standing. In other areas, in the absence of structures, it is the presence of vendors and their mobile carts that complicates the situation for pedestrians. The latter do not seem particularly concerned by the operations launched a few weeks earlier by municipal authorities.
