Users of the Carrefour–Port-au-Prince route had difficulty getting around this Monday. The cause: a work stoppage by drivers, officially due to fuel unavailability.
While the government, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), stated that there is no issue regarding the availability of petroleum products on the Haitian market, citizens are already beginning to feel the effects of a potential shortage. This was the case for residents of the commune of Carrefour, who had great difficulty reaching downtown Port-au-Prince to go about their activities on Monday morning. At the origin of this situation was a suspension of work by public transport bus drivers operating this route, officially due to fuel supply problems.
