The Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Vladimir Paraison, during a visit to Le Nouvelliste on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, emphasized the urgent need to take advantage of the opportunity provided by H.R. 7148, the U.S. consolidated appropriations law for fiscal year 2026, to strengthen the Coast Guard.

The commander-in-chief of the PNH, however, recalled that only the government has the authority to acquire new equipment. “In our collaboration with international partners, I am a technician. I limit myself to my technical role. It is up to the government to make certain decisions. I follow the directives of my government,” the Director General of the PNH stated.
