For the second time in its history, Le Nouvelliste hosted a sitting Director General of the Police Nationale d’Haïti. The first visit dated back to Michel Ange Gédéon, on the occasion of the newspaper’s 118th anniversary in 2016. On April 8, 2026, it was André Vladimir Paraison who visited the country’s longest-running media outlet, also the oldest French-language daily in the Americas.
Beyond current affairs, the newspaper sought to understand who Vladimir Paraison is, this police officer who witnessed the birth of the PNH and rose through all the ranks of the institution. To this day, he remains the only Inspector General wounded in combat while confronting criminal groups. He is also the only senior PNH officer to have gone to the residence of President Jovenel Moïse on the night of his assassination on July 7, 2021. In March 2024, along with the men under his command, he helped prevent gangs from overrunning the National Palace.
