Several Democratic representatives from New York and Massachusetts, where there are significant Haitian communities, are mobilizing ahead of a vote on a bill aimed at extending TPS for Haitians, scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Representative Laura Gillen (NY-04) and the House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) organized a roundtable with Haitian-American leaders from Nassau County to discuss the ongoing effort to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for law-abiding Haitian workers living on Long Island and across the country, according to a statement from Representative Gillen’s office.
