A protest movement led by officers of the Haitian National Police (PNH) caused chaos this Monday, April 27, 2026, across several major roads in Delmas, paralyzing traffic for much of the day. The protesters are denouncing the arrest, since April 14, of four police officers currently being held at the Delmas 33 police station in a case involving the West I Departmental Director (DDO1), Yvon Cantave.
From the early hours of the afternoon, angry officers set up barricades using vehicles placed across the roadway in Delmas 33. In Delmas 31, burning tires were used to block several streets, forcing motorists to turn back. Around 4 p.m., part of the Delmas highway was still cut off, causing significant traffic jams in both areas. Intersections such as Delmas 75–83 were also blocked. A large number of pedestrians were observed moving through the streets of Delmas.
