Dr. Jean William Pape, head of the GHESKIO centers, has been selected as the recipient of the IAS President’s Award. He is expected to receive the distinction from the International AIDS Society at AIDS 2026, the 26th International AIDS Conference, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro from July 26 to 31, 2026, Le Nouvelliste learned on Friday, May 8, 2026.

“The IAS President’s Award seeks to recognize the achievements of an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary record of leadership and excellence as a pioneering figure or leading advocate in the response to HIV. This award highlights the contribution of an individual whose work has advanced knowledge, skills, innovative solutions, or evidence-based policies and programs to strengthen the global HIV response.
