The Fils-Aimé administration made its specialized judicial units project a reality this Wednesday. A judicial unit dedicated to mass crimes and sexual violence, and another dedicated to complex financial crimes, were inaugurated on May 27.

The country’s highest political and judicial authorities, including Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Justice and Public Security Me Patrick Pélissier, and President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) Jean Joseph Lebrun, were present at the event. The international community, represented by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and head of BINUH in Haiti, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, also answered the call. This reflects the importance given to these judicial units, presented as the perfect response to the weaknesses of the judicial apparatus.
