Sunrise Airways launched its new route between Cap-Haïtien and Newark (CAP–EWR) this week. The inaugural CAP–EWR flight took place on Monday, June 1, while the inaugural EWR–CAP flight was operated on Tuesday, June 2. In New Jersey, the event was a great success. Haitian officials, Haitian-American authorities, actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, BANJ representative Marc Alain Boucicault, journalists, and others experienced the first direct Newark–Cap-Haïtien flight with Sunrise Airways.
During a brief ceremony held at the airline’s counter in Terminal B of Newark Liberty International Airport, Sunrise Airways officials expressed their enthusiasm about inaugurating the new route. “Today, we are celebrating this connection between Newark and Cap-Haïtien. It is more than a flight; it is a link between families, friends, and communities,” said Marie Alice Carré, Sales Manager of Sunrise Airways. For many people, she added, the flight means being closer to their loved ones.
