Canada has announced a new CAD 26.3 million funding package to strengthen security in Haiti. The amount represents the bulk of a CAD 35.3 million regional funding initiative unveiled by Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand following her participation in the 56th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held in Panama.
According to Global Affairs Canada, the CAD 26.3 million allocated to Haiti will be used primarily to strengthen the Gang Suppression Force (FRG), established to support Haitian authorities in combating armed groups.
