"The Vocation of the Elite" and "Thus Spoke the Uncle," among other major works by Jean Price-Mars, one of Haiti's greatest intellectuals, were the focus of a lecture delivered by Professor Hérold Toussaint last Thursday at Laval University. The president of the National Agency for Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANESRS) also took the opportunity to meet with the university's president and vice president for international affairs and sustainable development at the French-speaking institution in Québec, Canada.

Before a distinguished audience of professors and students, Professor Hérold Toussaint paid tribute to Dr. Jean Price-Mars, one of Haiti's foremost intellectuals of the 20th century. While regretting that, in his view, the author of "The Vocation of the Elite" is not sufficiently taught in Haitian universities, the president of the National Agency for Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that Price-Mars encouraged Haitians to think seriously about their shared heritage.
