The Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) arrived in Haiti, carried out its mission as best it could, and eventually left the country. Gradually, it faded into the long list of international initiatives that ultimately failed to produce satisfactory results.

That does not mean, however, that the Kenyan personnel of the MSS and the other forces that made up the mission were not useful in preventing Haiti—particularly the areas still under government control—from descending into complete anarchy and falling under the control of armed groups. On the contrary. The Kenyan forces managed to halt the gangs' advance, even if they were unable to do more.
