The event, titled “Waves in the Eyes,” will unfold in two parts during the afternoon and evening. From 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., Samuel Suffren will lead a workshop presented as a masterclass, during which he will discuss his filmmaking practice and the way he conceives and produces his works. The museum has given him carte blanche for this hour of discussion, during which the public will be able to ask him questions directly about his work.
In the evening, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., PAMM will screen three of the filmmaker’s short films, followed by a discussion with the audience. These three films, which make up a trilogy written by Samuel Suffren, will be presented in English with subtitles and are inspired, according to information reported by the local press, by the Haitian migration experience lived by his father, through the films Agwe, Dreams Like Paper Boats and Blue Heart. The program is presented by Third Horizon, whose Caribbean film festival is taking a break this year, but which is continuing its collaboration with the museum through this evening, organized with the Caribbean Cultural Institute of the Pérez Art Museum Miami.
