The government is projecting slightly positive real growth, provisionally estimated at 0.2%, an inflation rate of 15.8% in 2026-2027, a return to zero monetary financing, a slight increase in the tax burden to 4.4%, substantial investments for the security forces, the continuation of the electoral process and the strengthening of democratic institutions, according to the “2026-2027 budget” framework letter sent by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to authorizing officers on August 10, 2026.
“The Haitian economy remains confronted with a particularly restrictive environment. After several years of economic contraction, recent data indicate a continued slowing of the recession. Real GDP growth went from -4.2% in 2023-2024 to 2.7% in 2024-2025, then is expected at -1.5% in 2025-2026. For fiscal year 2026-2027, preliminary work makes it possible to forecast slightly positive real growth, provisionally estimated at 0.2%, before a moderate improvement to 0.5% in 2027-2028 and 2028-2029,” the framework letter states.
