The president of the Professional Association of Private Schools (APEP), Marguerite B. Clérié, is calling for the implementation of a “Marshall Plan” for the approximately 2,000 schools that have closed in the West Department because of gang violence.

Appearing on Panel Magik on Wednesday, September 2, the APEP president did not mince words in describing the situation facing schools affected by violence from armed groups. Some schools have been forced to close their doors, while others, after being displaced, are still struggling to find new premises in order to continue their activities. “A real source of anguish for these schools, which are asking for State assistance that has been slow to come,” Clérié complained.
