Donald Trump promised on Wednesday a $5,000 “dividend” to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans win a majority in Congress following the November legislative elections.

Apart from using revenue from tariffs, the president gave no details on how this commitment would be financed, raising questions about its feasibility and legality.
