Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé’s government corrected the CEP’s electoral decree and transformed the executive director chosen by the CEP into a director general appointed by the government. The CEP slipped him an unrealistic electoral calendar. The security climate promised by the head of government to allow elections to be held is still nowhere to be seen.

The CEP is moving at a snail’s pace in the voter registration process—a problem it created for itself—instead of allowing NINU holders to vote in their constituencies, as an act of faith in the territorial reconquest that will have to be carried out against the gangs.
