U.S. and Canadian authorities arrested Samir Handal and Ashkard Pierre Joseph, respectively, two individuals charged in connection with the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. While the FBI arrested Samir Handal in Miami, “the searches conducted by the authorities led to the arrest, this Sunday [September 20], of Ashkard Pierre Joseph, a former contractor at the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal,” RFI reported.
According to the U.S. federal indictment, Ashkard Pierre, who resides in Canada and Haiti, “worked directly with CTU and Worldwide Group, the Colombian mercenaries, and other individuals, and participated in a planned coup d’état in Haiti, including the murder or kidnapping of President Moïse. Pierre also helped conceal and facilitate the escape of Colombian mercenary Mario Antonio Palacios Palacios and former Haitian Senator John Joel Joseph following the assassination of President Moïse.”
