Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé returned to Port-au-Prince on Saturday, September 26, 2026, following his participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During his week-long stay, the head of government held several bilateral meetings before addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Friday. At a press briefing in the diplomatic lounge of Toussaint Louverture International Airport, in the presence of cabinet members, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé provided an account of his official mission.
According to the Prime Minister, one of the key points raised during his various meetings with members of the international community was the need to uphold and honor the commitment to deploy the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) with 5,500 personnel. “It was extremely important to tell the international community that granting us Resolution 2793 is a very good thing. We are grateful for the assistance provided to the Haitian people. But assistance must not exist only on paper. We need the 5,500 personnel on the ground and equipped as promised,” Prime Minister Fils-Aimé declared, recalling his commitment to restoring security, organizing elections, and reviving the economy.
