On Monday, September 28, 2026, a tour conducted by Le Nouvelliste in several communes of the upper North-East revealed, on the ground, the conditions in which the populations of this part of the country live. From Carice to Mombin-Crochu, passing through Vallières, the communal sections and several households, the realities observed reflect the extent of the needs faced by the communities.
In this mountainous part of the department, the distances between communes, combined with the state of roads and communication routes, already pose a major obstacle. In some places, travel becomes difficult, particularly for residents who must go to urban centers to access basic services. The poor condition of roads also affects the transport of agricultural products, the movement of students and teachers, as well as access to healthcare and other essential services.
